FLORENCE, Ala. - Acclaimed American country music artist Gloriana will headline the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama's Spring Music Festival, with Lee Brice as opener, May 4 at 6 p.m. in Flowers Hall. Singing River Records artist Archie Hubbard and MEISA "Entertainer of the Year" winner Spencer Murphy will join Brice and Gloriana at the show. University Program Council, along with the Office of Student Engagement, have reduced the festival down to one day this year, made tickets free to students and implemented more local musical talent than ever before. Blake Clark, a UNA senior entertainment industry major and live acts chair of UPC, has worked with UNA students Erin Martini and Brittany Jordan in organizing the concert. "Our main goal is to do more local music as well as bring nationally acclaimed artists to match them up," Clark said. "The concert will take place the day before 'dead day,' which allows students to take a little time out before studying to have fun, hang out with friends, enjoy some good music and support the university." Formed in 2008, Gloriana's 2009 debut single "Wild at Heart" became a top 15 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The band won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards in 2009 and took the Top New Vocal Group at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2010. They have also been nominated for several CMT awards. Brice, who has co-written songs with Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Adam Gregory, has released four singles since being signed to Curb Records' Asylum-Curb division in 2007. His single "Love Like Crazy" is the longest-running song in that chart's history. Tickets to the Spring Music Festival, which are free to UNA students, will be available each day leading up to the festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Guillot University Center Atrium. Tickets are $10 for the general public and are available at www.una.edu/boxoffice.
