By earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become a registered nurse at an accelerated pace. With a career in nursing, you’ll inspire change in your organization, community, and beyond. Upon completion of a BSN, students will be able to provide quality care in adult health, mental wellness, and pediatric care while demonstrating ethical decision-making.

The accelerated BSN option is a low residency program available for students who have previously completed a baccalaureate degree. After BSN undergraduate program prerequisites are complete, as listed in the catalog, students will begin clinical and non-clinical professional nursing courses. Once accepted into the nursing program, the didactic portion of the courses will be delivered in an online format. The face-to-face clinical component of the course will be two weekends a month (weekends are defined as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) with the occasional Thursday at designated times and locations.

What can I do with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing?

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree better prepares you for more comprehensive patient care while opening doors to further your nursing career. By completing your BSN, you’ll find greater employment opportunities that allow you to focus your career in areas that interest you more.

Admission Requirements

Applications will be available in February and due March 1 of each year for admission to begin in the May intercession. Decisions will be made and students notified by April 1 of each year. Initial admission is based on requirements for admission to the University; however, admission to the University does not assure admission to the program in nursing. Admission to the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions is competitive, and meeting all admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. Requirements for admission to the nursing program are:

  • Hold a bachelors degree in any discipline other than Nursing, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Admission to the University of 杏吧直播间 Alabama.
  • Submit a formal application to the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions which includes an application fee.
  • Letter of Eligibility:
    • Students enrolled previously in another nursing program must provide a letter of eligibility to return to the program without stipulation by the dean or director. If ineligible to return to the program, student is ineligible to apply to the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions.
    • Students enrolled previously in healthcare related programs (other than nursing) must talk with their advisor. An eligibility letter may be required. 
  • Students must be eligible to participate in rotations in all clinical facilities to be eligible for admission to the program.
  • Students must be available to attend clinical at designated times and locations in 杏吧直播间west Alabama.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA in either the first degree or on the completed prerequisite courses.
  • Possess a "C" or above in all required prerequisite courses listed. 
  • An admission cumulative index based on admission assessment exam scores, GPA, and completed coursework at UNA is used to determine admission to the upper-division nursing major.
  • Complete a criminal background check and negative drug screen and be in good standing with university student conduct as specified on the application for admission.

Application Deadlines

Students accepted must enroll in the May intercession for the Accelerated BSN option. The application is available February 1st and due March 1st. 

Tuition and Aid

$340 per credit hour .

Out of State: $680 per credit hour plus additional fees.
