Online Course Evaluations

Step 1 - Become Familiar with the System

  • Read the IASystem Guidebook
  • Once the course evaluations are created, typically 2-3 days after the withdrawal deadline, instructors will receive an email for each course of instruction.
    • The email will include:
      • The open date for evaluations (typically 24 hours)
      • A link to the IASystem Instructor Portal
      • Instructions for reviewing response rates

    • Please use your UNA credentials to access the instructor portal.
    • Within the instructor portal, you can:
      • review your course evaluation questions before the evaluation open date (typically 24 hours)
      • access your response rates for live course evaluations
      • access your reports for past course evaluations

Step 2 - Evaluations Open for Students

  • On the day they open, students receive an email for each course stating that course evaluations are open, the date they close, and the link itself.
  • Students will log in via UNA credentials to complete the course evaluation(s)
  • Students can also access their course evaluation(s) via Canvas by clicking on the "Course Evaluation" tab in the left navigational bar underneath the course view in Canvas.
  • Course evaluations are live from one to five days. This window depends on the academic calendar and the term itself.
  • If students do not complete the course evaluation in one sitting, they can log back in and complete it before the close date.

Step 3 - Encourage Participation

  • Instructors are encouraged to use class time to prompt students to complete course evaluations. This can be done by encouraging them to use their device to complete during 5-10 minutes of class time set aside.
  • Instructors are encouraged to use Canvas to prompt students to complete course evaluations.

Step 4 - System Reminders, Closing, and Results

  • System reminders will be automatically sent to students if they have not completed the evaluation.
  • Reports will be available after grades are posted.
    • Instructions for interpreting reports can be found by clicking "Help".
